The Pierre Boucher Colonial Militia is a recreation of North America’s first militia. Indeed, the first militia was founded by Pierre Boucher in order to defend Trois-Rivières from assaults led by the Iroquois. It was then used as a model for fighters in the French colony and remained Canada’s only means of defense for many years.
Trois-Rivières militia was for a long time recognized for the quality of its men and its strong effects. Pierre Boucher, François Hertel, Nicolas Perrot and many others accomplished legendary exploits which allowed the Militia to write an important page in history, thus establishing the standard for generations of militiamen.
The Pierre Boucher Colonial Militia is in its 11th year of recreations.
