Honours and Sacrifice

EXPOSITION ESTIVALE
The summer 2010 exhibition

Trois-Rivières Military Museum

Until August 22, the Trois-Rivières Military Museum (the 12e Régiment blindé du Canada Museum) is presenting an exhibition entitled “Honneurs et sacrifices – Le Canada et les Guerres mondiales” [Honours and Sacrifices: Canada and the World Wars].
This exhibition illustrates the role of the Canadian Forces during the two world wars, focusing in particular on the battles fought by the 12th Canadian Armoured Regiment (the Three Rivers Regiment) in Sicily, Italy, and in northwest Europe (the Netherlands). It is part of a regional exhibition, the theme of which is “Death,” put on by Médiat-Muse, a network of museums and exhibition centres in the Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec regions. This exhibition highlights the Regiment’s honours (Adrano, Termoli, Cassino, Ortona, etc) and the sacrifices of its veterans, particularly those who gave their lives for freedom and democracy.
The summer 2010 exhibition features the Museum’s own artefact collections and is therefore an excellent opportunity to showcase unique items and familiarize the public with the history and accomplishments of 12e Régiment blindé.
The Trois-Rivières Military Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm (closed on Mondays). Admission is free at all times for veterans and military personnel and on Sundays for everyone. To make a reservation for a group of 10 or more, call 819-371-5290, ext 2760.
