Chief Warrant Officer Stéfan Tremblay was born in the Saguenay region. He joined the Canadian Forces in 1989. After completing his basic training and his infantry course, he took his parachute course and was posted to the Régiment du Saguenay A Company paratrooper platoon.

In April 1990, he participated in Operation UNIQUE 4 at Goose Bay, Labrador. He then held several different positions within A Company. He was promoted to the rank of master corporal and worked as commander of the infantry section.

In April 1995, he took part in Operation HARMONY in Croatia with the Battalion Group of 2 Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment. In February 1997, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and served as platoon second-in-command. For several years, he taught a number of infantry courses as part of summer individual training at Valcartier. In January 1998, he participated in Operation RÉCUPÉRATION during the ice storm that wreaked havoc in the greater Montreal area. He was promoted to the rank of warrant officer and became sergeant-major of A Company. In April 2002, he was attached to 3 Wing Bagotville. He participated in a support role in Operation NOBLE EAGLE with NORAD after the attacks of September 11, 2001.

He was promoted to the rank of master warrant officer in February 2003, and he held the positions of sergeant-major and standards officer at the 3 Wing Bagotville Operational Readiness Training Flight. In 2004, he participated in the tactical evaluation in Neubrandenburg, Germany, as an evaluator for NATO in preparation for the TAC EVAL at Bagotville. Chief Warrant Officer Tremblay was promoted to his current rank in April 2005 and was appointed sergeant-major of the Régiment du Saguenay. At the same time, he held the position of chief warrant officer of 3 Wing Bagotville’s Operations Division. In September 2010, he was appointed sergeant-major of 35 Canadian Brigade Group.
