On behalf of all members of 35 Combat Engineer Regiment, I would like to welcome you most warmly to our unit's Web site.
The primary aim of this site is to provide general information about the unit; it contains information that will be useful both to active members of the unit and to those seeking information about recruiting.
This site also gives an overview of military engineering in the Canadian Forces. The military engineer’s trade is one that holds many challenges.
The primary function of military engineers (sappers) is to support the advance of friendly troops on the battlefield and to prevent the enemy from advancing. Its secondary role is as infantry, which means that sappers are self-reliant, versatile fighters who take part in every phase of battle.
Sappers have been involved in every battle since antiquity. Their tasks include, among other things, building roads and bridges, handling explosives, demining, the use of hand and mechanical tools, and water purification.
In times of crisis or emergency within Quebec, Quebec soldiers including 35 CER members may be called upon to take part in a domestic task force to support the provincial and federal public security agencies. This DOM TF provide a solid, effective response capability in the event of natural disasters or major crises (snow or ice storms, major international incidents, etc).
35 Combat Engineer Regiment has also been in "Transformation" mode since 2003. The increase in its strength is continuing, and, as a result, many jobs are currently available. If you are interested in joining us, I would invite you to visit our site, where you will find further information about military engineering, 35 Combat Engineer Regiment and recruiting.
We hope to see you one day as a member of our unit.

Biography of Lieutenant-Colonel Dufour
As Deputy Commanding Officer of 35 Combat Engineer Regiment, I am delighted to welcome you to our site, which provides our unit with a presence on the Internet.
I think it is worthwhile to introduce to you here the key members of our staff. You will have an opportunity to meet us at training days and exercises.
In my view, the careers of members of the Reserve Forces re interesting and full of challenge. You will have an opportunity to spend your free time pursuing a military career and learning the profession of engineering.
In this way you will have a career parallel to your civilian job. The experience, new knowledge and leadership learned in the Canadian Forces will enhance your potential for promotion in your civilian career.
The headquarters of our unit and its recruiting cell are located behind the Place Laurier shopping centre. Exercises or operational training take place in the training areas of CFB Valcartier.
