Lieutenant-Colonel Claude Langlois was born in Rimouski on 21 April 1967. He joined the Canadian Forces in 1984 as an officer. He graduated from the Royal Military College Saint-Jean in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in military studies.

He held the positions of infantry platoon commander and assistant adjutant from 1989 to 1992 in 3 Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, and was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 1990. In 1992, he was promoted to the rank of captain and assumed the role of G3 Training at District No 2 Headquarters in Montreal until 1993. From 1993 to 1994, he acted as aide-de-camp to the Commander of Land Force Quebec Area.

From 1994 to 1996, he worked as assistant to the operations officer and second-in-command of the command company of Battalion 10/90 at Farnham. From 1996 to 1998, he held similar positions in 3 Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment. He then held the position of G3 Operations at 35 Canadian Brigade Group Headquarters in Quebec City from 1998 to 2001. Back at 3 Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, from 2001 to 2005, he held the positions of second-in-command of the services company, operations officer, officer commanding the command company, officer commanding B Company, and then officer commanding the services company. In 2003, he was promoted to the rank of major. In 2005, he was posted to the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre (CMTC) in Wainwright, Alberta, as chief observer/controller/trainer. Upon returning to Valcartier in 2007, he assumed the responsibilities of commanding officer of 1 Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, until he retired from the Regular Force in July 2008. That same month, he joined the Régiment de la Chaudière as officer commanding the support and services company. In 2009, he became affiliated with the Command Support Capability (CSC) as officer commanding the CIMIC company. Most recently, Lieutenant-Colonel Langlois was deputy commanding officer of the Régiment de la Chaudière from January 2010 to the present. Lieutenant-Colonel Langlois has participated in numerous domestic operations and overseas deployments including the Oka Crisis in 1990, Cyprus in 1992, Bosnia in 1995 and 2001, Haiti in 1997, the ice storm in 1998 and Afghanistan in 2004.

Lieutenant-Colonel Langlois has been a first responder and volunteer firefighter for the city of Shannon since 2009. His pastimes are outdoor activities, hunting, fishing and woodworking. He also enjoys reading and is particularly interested in military history.
