Lieutenant-Colonel Luc Tremblay was born in Coaticook in 1964. He studied at the Université de Sherbrooke, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree, a certificate in administration and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (M.B.A.).
In 1984, he joined the Primary Reserve of the Canadian Forces, enlisting with 714 Communication Squadron as part of the Reserve Entry Scheme Officers (RESO) program. After working in all of the officer positions of the unit, he was appointed Deputy Commanding Officer in 1992. He was promoted to Major in 1995, and commanded the unit until 1999.
From 1999 to 2000, he worked with the Fusiliers de Sherbrooke, holding various senior officer positions.
He was made Lieutenant-Colonel in 2000 and took command of 71 Communications Group, a formation encompassing all of the Communication Reserve units in Quebec.
Since 2005, he has been the head of the Canadian delegation of the Military Competition Commission of NATO’s Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers (CIOR). In this role, he has travelled to Belgium (2005), Italy (2006) and Latvia (2007).
In December 2007, he took command of the Sherbrooke Hussars regiment.
Lieutenant-Colonel Tremblay completed the NATO Reserve Officers Course (NAROC) in Rome in the summer of 1997, and he took the Militia Command and Staff Course (CSC) at Fort Frontenac in Kingston in July 1998.
In his civilian career, he works for Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), where he holds the position of Branch Head, Strategic Development.
