On September 20, 2009, a ceremony was held at St. Peter’s Church to celebrate the 143rd anniversary of the Sherbrooke Hussars regiment.

The regimental colours were paraded with a guard in traditional uniform. The commanding officer of the unit, Lieutenant-Colonel Luc Tremblay, awarded two important figures in the region, David Price and Paul G. Addy, the honorary title of Close Friend of the Sherbrooke Hussars.

David Price was mayor of Lennoxville from 1994 to 1997. After that, he led a career in federal politics and sat in the House of Commons until 2004. When he was younger, Mr. Price served with the Sherbrooke Hussars as a reservist for five years; since then, he has maintained close ties with the regiment.

Lieutenant-General (retired) Paul G. Addy is a founding shareholder of LEADMARK Consulting Group and now lives in the Eastern Townships. He was a Canadian Forces representative to NATO for three years before taking a well-deserved retirement after 41 years of service in the Regular and Reserve Force.

The Sherbrooke Hussars is a Reserve Force reconnaissance regiment. It is the only bilingual regiment in Sherbrooke and provides people of all ages with an opportunity to receive military training on Canadian Forces vehicles and equipment.
